Bhutan Punakha trek is one of the easiest treks in Bhutan. It follows the old footpath between Punakha and Thimphu. Punakha was, until recently, the winter capital of Bhutan. Although there is an altitudinal difference of 1,000 metres between Thimphu and Punakha, the gradients are gentle and the route is not difficult.
This is the extension of Laya-Gasa Trek. With this package, the trek continues from Laya to Lunana, and further on to either Gangkar Punsum and Bumthang or down to Sephu near Trongsa, depending on which route you choose. These are challenging trails best suited to experienced trekkers who can camp at and above 5,000 m. Sometimes we will camp in snow.
