Itinerary – Bhutan Photography Tour

First Day: Arrive Paro in Bhutan

Our company guide will receive you at the Paro International Airport and Transfer you to hotel in downtown. Simply have a peaceful rest in the hotel to ready to start your photography tour the next day! Overnight in Paro in 3 star hotel/resort.


Second Day: Sightseeing in Paro

Highlights:

  1. Explore National Museum – locally known as Taa Dzong or the Watch Tower – Rinpung Dzong and other places of historical importance including 7th century Kyichu Temple.
  2. Hike Chelela Pass 3988M where you will have extraordinary view of Mount Jomolhari 7326M. Which is the dwelling place of the Abode of Goddess Remati. Perched internal species such as: alpine flowers, Himalayan Monal bird, Satyr Tragopan, and Kalij Pheasant.
  3. The ruins of Drugyal Dzong and famous Taktshang Monastery for its religious significance and marvellous architecture.


Third & Fourth Day: Thimphu

Views in Thimphu is one of the great place for photograph for Highlights::

  1. Tashichhodzong – is 500 years old administrative centre of Bhutan and the palace of the King.
  2. Parliament Building – an epitome of modern Bhutanese architecture combined with traditional grandeur.
  3. Buddha – the large Buddha built a hillock where you will also have a panoramic view of the Thimphu city.
  4. Sangaygang – the main viewpoint of Thimphu.
  5. Memorial Stupa – an attractive stupa in Bhutan built in memory of the father of modern Bhutan, king Jigme Dorji Wangchuck.
  6. Vegetable Market – the cultural Bazaar.
  7. Norzin Lam – the most crowded-busy street in Thimphu.
  8. Textile Museum, Folk Heritage Museum, School of Art and Craft.


Fifth Day: Thimphu – Punakha / Wangdue

Highlights:

  1. Semtokha Dzong – the oldest monastery fortress of Bhutan.
  2. Dochula 3116M –  a pass where you will have a breathtaking sights of the Himalaya ranges.
  3. Vegetation from alpine to the sub-tropical, rare birds and flowers
  4. Wangdue – Punakha valley, farms and villages, ancient monasteries including Chimi Lhakhang.
  5. Punakha Dzong, the old capital of Bhutan and Bhutan’s most prized asset
  6. The ruins of Wangdue monastery-fortress, where habitats the White-Bellied Heron and the world’s infrequent birds.


Sixth Day: Punakha / Wangdue – Trongsa

Highlights:

  1. Verdant forests, rare birds (including the exotic black-necked crane) and animals, and beautiful alpine flowers.
  2. Pelela pass 3390M, the Black Mountain range and hamlets along the way.
  3. 18th century stupa at Chendebji.
  4. View of Trongsa Dzong – the monastery fortress is consistently the power centre of central-east Bhutan. The Watch Tower of Trongsa and Trongsa town.


Seventh Day: Trongsa – Bumthang

Highlights:

  1. Views of Mangde valley and Yotongla pass with 3,400 meters high.
  2. Bumthang valley – the most pleasing valley filled with ancient palaces and religious monuments.


Eighth Day: Bumthang

Highlights:

  1. Jakar Dzong (Castle of the White Bird), Wangdicholing Palace and Domkhar Palace.
  2. The well known Kurjey Temple and 7th century Jambay Lhakhang temple.
  3. Tamzhing Monastery and the fairy-tale of Mebartsho
  4. Enjoy Airstrip, local cultural villages, landscape and extra.


Ninth Day: Bumthang – Mongar 

Highlights:

  1. Thrumshingla National Park, the Thrumshingla Pass 3780M and Ruins of Zhongar Fortress
  2. Sengor – Yongkala – Lingmithang areas – are known as the Bird’s Capital of the World. It has the world’s largest density of birds including some most rarest.
  3. Kurichu Hydroelectric Dam, Powerhouse, Lingmethang and Mongar towns.

Tenth & Eleventh Day: Mongar – Trashigang

Highlights:

  1. Korila Pass and the surrounding views of the landscape of eastern Bhutan.
  2. Yadi zig valley carved by the biggest Dangmechu river of Bhutan.
  3. Gomphu – a great site of Buddhists pilgrims.
  4. Trashigang Dzong – historical regional ruler.
  5. Trashigang and Rangjung towns.
  6. North Trashigang – the most populated area of Bhutan with full of local culture, customs and lifestyle.
  7. Folk festival, dance and music.

Twelfth Day: Trashigang – Samdrup Jongkhar

Highlights:

  1. En-route, we will have villages, Sherubtse Bhutan’s first college Sherubtse, Yonphula airstrip, and the adjoining views.
  2. Numerous ancient temples and iron smithy at Barshong, monasteries,
  3. Bird watching area at Moshi, Dewathang.

Thirteenth Day: Thimphu to airport
